2. Dimensions of component should be declared.
3. Calculation on Forces to be applied.
4. Stresses or resisting Forces calculation.
5. Calculation of efficiency of the component.
6. After these calculation you should checkout the dimensional changes.
7. At last,  Necessary changes of dimensions & get the new dimensions of your component.

Every component or M/c parts can be designed by this procedure.
